Our story, our projet, our values

A word from captain tama

My name is Tamatoa – but they all call me TAMA. I first grew up in the Marquesas islands, then here in Moorea – where my mother was born.

Son of Nico – a local fisherman – I’ve always learned what you can’t learn from book: living in harmony with the ocean.

For as long as I can remember, my childhood has been surrounded by the water. Swimming, fishing, piloting the boat: that was our daily life.

That’s how the ocean became my playground.

After school, I Took a series of « odd jobs » for living. Then in 2013 I joined the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa teams as a Pool Boy attendant.

During the Hotel’s pool renovation in 2019, we were tasked with accompanying guests to the motu (islet). Our mission was to offer activities to make them forget about the renovation works occring.

It was then that something clicked!
Providing boat tours combines my two passions: sharing with guests and ocean-based activities.

After ensuring I had the support of my wife and family, I enrolled in the required training courses: Lagoon Pilot Certification (CPL), Polynesian Professional Certificate for Outdoor Physical Activity Leaders (CPPA PPN), and so on.

Then I wrote my resignation letter and embarked on my new adventure. After a few years of working as a captain and guide for Moorea-based service providers, I decided to set up my own business.
